CLEMSON, S.C. – Charleston Southern men's track finished up their races at the 2024 Bob Pollock Invitational on Saturday. Multiple student-athletes were able to record career and season bests at the meet with others moving into the school record books for the first time.
Shawn Langley led the Buccaneers to the line in both the 200 and 400 registering times of 21.76 and 48.07.
Zack Wedding and
Jack McGahey each had quality performances in the 800, taking 12
th and 13
th overall with times of 1:55.02 and 1:55.12. Wedding's was a few ticks of his personal best, while McGahey's was a PB and is now 8
th overall in CSU history.
In the 3K,
Sam Waldin took a 7
th-place finish and set a career best in the process. He had a time of 8:22.75 in the event and moved himself up a spot in the school record book, going from 10
th to 9
th all-time.
Additionally, in the 3K,
Jaden Kingsley qualified for the top heat due to his strong seed time set earlier this year. He was able to take 9
th place in the quality field and had a time of 8:15.05 in the star-studded grouping.
The men put together a DMR team that ran a 10:17.44 to put themselves in at 5
th-fastest in school history. The group featured three true freshman and was comprised of
Connor Smith,
Charlie Easler,
Steven McCartney and
Conan Harper.
Michael Calhoun headlined the Bucs in the throwing events as he took 10
th overall in the field.
The Buccaneers will be back in action just one week from today as the
Bucs will be competing at the USC Invitational on Saturday, February 3.
