CHARLESTON – The NCAA announced the participants for the NCAA East Regionals First Round on Thursday afternoon. The Buccaneers had a record total of selections with there being 11 events and nine student-athletes between the men's and women's teams. This year, the meet will be held on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
 
For the men, Laden Beckwith will be competing in the 100m and 200m dashes at the event. At the Big South Championships earlier this month he ran personal bests and school records in each event to be named the Big South Freshman of the Year. He had a time of 10.09 in the finals of the 100m and a 20.54 in the finals of 200m for those record-setting times. The time in the 100m ranks as the second-best in conference history while the 200m time ranks seventh best. In the east region so far this year, his 100m time ranks in 15^th while his 200m comes in at 31^st.
 
Aden Price qualified for the meet in the 400m. He ran a career best time of 45.67 in the regular season finale at the Charlotte Invite for the fourth-best time in conference history. Currently, this time ranks as 28^th in the east region this spring. At the Big South Championships, he won the 400m dash at the meet and was the individual runner-up in the 200m.
 
Odin Ferency also qualified for the meet with a career best throw of 17.80m earlier this spring sending him through. He recorded the throw at the Georgia Tech Invite in April with the mark placing him at second in school history and ninth in league history. At the Big South Championships he placed third for an All-Conference finish in the event.
 
The NCAA First and Second Rounds will be held from Wednesday, May 27 through Saturday, May 30. The first round will cut the field of 48 down to 24 with the second round bringing it down to 12 with those to advance to the NCAA Championship which will be in Eugene, Oregon from Wednesday, June 10 through Saturday, June 13.
