ATLANTA, GA. – Charleston Southern competed in the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday and Saturday and came away from the meet with four new top ten marks in program history.
One of the best performances of the week came in the shot put.
Michael Calhoun took third overall with his throw of 17.16m (56' 3.75").
Odin Ferency tossed a career best mark of 16.15m (53' 0") to move into second all-time in program history.
In day one of the event, Charleston Southern had a pair of top four finishes in the javelin.
Aaron Pierce won the event with a best throw on the day of 64.68m (212' 2"), beating out the second-place finisher by over four-and-a-half meters.
Landry Polk finished in fourth with a personal best throw of 57.78 (189' 7") in the event. His mark remains in third in school history.
In the discus, Ferency and Calhoun both threw. They recorded best marks on the day of 45.06m (147' 10") and 42.72m (140' 2").
In the 1500m, the Buccaneers fielded six runners in the event.
Griffin Gillespie was the top finisher with his time of 3:48.42 for 16
th overall.
Martin Iriondo and
Collin Kleinhen had times of 3:50.39 and 3:50.55 with Iriondo now holding the tenth-fastest time in school history.
Caleb Kenyon,
Jaden Kingsley and
Liam O'Donnell also competed in the event.
The final event for the Bucs on Friday was the men's 5K.
Zack Wedding was the team's top finisher with a time of 14:43.55 for seventh in the field. They also raced
Zach Mickler,
Lin Scott,
Zaiden Lane and
Mason Raasch.
On Saturday in the 800m, Charleston Southern had C. Kleinhen as their top finisher. He ran a time of 1:51.75 to take a top three finish in his heat and the new tenth-fastest time in program history. Gillespie and O'Donnell also competed in it.
The Buccaneer will finish their regular season next weekend at the Charlotte Invitational which will be held from Friday, April 25 through Saturday, April 26.
