Buccaneer Conclude Men's Outdoor Big South Championships in Second in Team Standings

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Charleston Southern Men's Track and Field returned to Vert Stadium on Wednesday for the final time at the 2026 Big South Championships. The Buccaneers swept the sprints with the titles in the 100m, 200m, and 400m with them also winning the 5K on the day. Martin Iriondo was named the Most Valuable Athlete after scoring a league-best 28 points during the week while Laden Beckwith earned Freshman of the Year with his 21 points.
 
The day started with the discus throw and Odin Ferency taking a sixth-place finish at the meet. He had his best throw of the day be 48.55m to score three points for the squad. This was the lone field event that CSU competed in on the third day.
 
The first event on the track that was held was the 4x100m and the Bucs claimed fifth in the race with their time of 41.73. It included Laden Beckwith, Aden Price, Hunter Adams and Luciano Custodio.
 
After this, the men's 1500m was ran with Charleston Southern placing five runners inside the top seven as they went 2-4-5-6-7. Martin Iriondo was the top finisher from the squad with a 3:50.25 followed by Collin Kleinhen in 3:50.64, Caleb Kenyon in 3:51.96, Micah Gilpatric in 3:52.07 and Mason Raasch in 3:52.23.
 
Following this were the finals of the 110m hurdles. Jayden Anderson ran a career best time of 14.71 and he claimed fifth in the heat.
 
Price claimed the championship in the 400m with a time of 46.06 to cruise to the individual title.
 
Laden Beckwith won the 100m with a personal best, school record, facility record and meet record time of 10.09 (+1.8). He was just one hundredth of a second off from tying the conference record set by North Carolina A&T's Javonte Harding.
 
In the 800m, the Buccaneers had three runners advance to the finals. Earlon Baker and Jackson Lovvorn ran career best times of 1:52.94 and 1:54.50 for fifth and sixth in the event. C. Kleinhen took eighth in the race with a 1:55.40.
 
Charleston Southern had a pair of student-athletes score in the 400m hurdles. Custodio had the top time of the Buccaneers represented in it with a season best time of 51.87 for second in the field. Anderson took sixth in it with a 54.03.
 
Beckwith and Price went 1-2 in the 200m dash at the meet. Beckwith ran a 20.54 while Price had a 20.90. Price's time tied his career best entering the meet while Beckwith's marks a new personal best and school record in the event.
 
Iriondo claimed the title in the 5K finals with a 14:22.07. Hayden Goode, Gilpatric and Kenyon went 4-5-7 in the race with their times of 14:39.99, 14:41.21 and 14:55.36.
 
Charleston Southern will have multiple qualifiers for the NCAA Regionals with the Buccaneers to find out the fate next week. This year, the NCAA East Regionals will be held in Lexington, Kentucky from Wednesday, May 27 through Saturday, May 30.
