RALEIGH, N.C. – The Buccaneers Women's Track and Field team finished off their time at the Raleigh Relays on early Saturday evening. There were multiple school all time top ten marks set at the meet across a variety of events.
The day began with the women's 4x100m relay and Charleston Southern claimed 13
th in the field. They finished with a time of 46.52 in the race.
Following this was the women's 800m with the Buccaneers having a pair of entrees.
Freya Buglass was the team's top finisher with her time of 2:12.38 and
Charlize Antia ran a personal best of 2:16.18. Antia's time is the seventh fastest in school history for the event.
In the 400m hurdles, there were three Charleston Southern student athletes that competed.
Grenisha Thomas ran a personal best of 59.76 for sixth in the field and the third-fastest time in school history for the event.
Austyn Koppe took 11
th with 60.49 for a career best time as well with hers ranking in fourth in program history.
Brenda du Toit had a 60.83 for 13
th and a new season best time.
In the 200m, there were five entrees from the Buccaneers, all recording times in the 25s.
Nourhan Hassan and
Maddie St. Louis each ran personal best times while
Maeva Tahou and
Sophia Cupp each had season bests.
The team's day came to an end with the 4x400 relay as Charleston Southern took seventh in the field of over 30 squads. The Buccaneers' team of St. Louis, Thomas, Du Toit and
Caroline Aslerin finished with a time of 3:42.43 in the race. This becomes a new season best for the squad and moves them up to sixth in the school record books for the event.
Charleston Southern will be back in action next weekend with them traveling down to Gainesville, Florida. They will be competing in the Florida Relays which will be held from Friday, April 4 through Saturday, April 5.
