ATLANTA, GA – Charleston Southern finished out the opening day of the Georgia Tech Invite on Friday with the Bucs.
In the 100m hurdles,
Chloe Greene had a top ten finish at the meet with 60 competitors in it. She ran a personal best of 13.89 while Chloe Mae Wilks and
Grenisha Thomas had 14.01 and 14.06. Greene's time ranks seventh in school history while Thomas' comes in at tenth in program history with her being a career best as well.
Katelyn Grate and
Brenda du Toit also ran in it and had times of 14.19 and 14.33.
In the hammer throw,
Zemaya Carson threw 56.95m to claim third overall in the event.
Lily Rowan had a 46.50m. Carson also led the squad in the shot put with a 13.37m. The rest of the Bucs in the event included Rowan (12.45m),
Avah Morrison (12.33m) and
Josaphine Ankney (11.96m).
Amelia Stembridge threw in the javelin and had a 36.37m.
Thomas led the Bucs in the 100m dash with a time of 11.91. Danea Niles and Grate also raced in it and had 12.18 and 12.38.
They fielded nearly their whole distance squad in the 1500m with
Freya Buglass having the best time of the Bucs. She had a 4:34.55 while
Lucy McNamara was right behind in 4:34.91 for sixth in school history. Other Buccaneers included
Katrina Husby (4:51.41),
Sienna Rose (4:53.77),
Elizabeth Shaylor (4:59.17) and
Kallie Henderson (5:05.56).
Charlize Antia had an 11:45.59 in the 3K steeplechase while
Brianna Adams had an 18:41.20 in the 5K to round out the squad's performance in the distance events.
The Buccaneers will return to the track tomorrow with field events beginning at 11:30 a.m. and track ones at noon.
