Pawleys Island, S.C. – Charleston Southern Women's Golf opened up the season placing 11th out of 18 teams at the 2024 Golfweek Fall Challenge. Overall, the team shot a 886 on the 6029 yard course with a par of 71 at Caledonia Golf and Fish Club.
Katie Stephens was the top finisher for the Bucs as she claims second overall in the field. She shot a 70 (-1) in the first round followed by a career-low of 66 (-5) in the second round. She ended the event with a 71 to keep her top placing in at the tournament.
Odette Font Garcia finished the tournament with a +9 in the first event of her senior season to tie for 33rd. Following a 76 in round one, she had a 72 on the round two which included a 33 (-2) on the front nine. She finished the week with a 74 on day three.
Eugenie Varet had a great showing in the second and third rounds dialing in following a 77. During the second around she shot a 72 and finished the tournament on a strong note shooting a 71 in the final round to move up the leaderboard into a tie for 33rd.
Also competing for the Buccaneers at the event were Isabella Galla and Chayse Cool.
As a team, Charleston Southern shot a 288 in the second round of the tournament for their best round of the three day event. This was just just six strokes from Campbell in that round who won the tournament.
The women's team will be back in action next week as they will be traveling to Elon, North Carolina to compete in the Elon Invitational from Monday, September 16 through Tuesday, September 17.
