MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - The Charleston Southern women's golf team hosted their only tournament of the 2024 spring season this week, placing fourth place in the Rivertowne Invitational with an overall team score of 878.
Caroline Engelbredt and
Madison Freeman both finished with a total score of 214 and four under par. Englebredt had a tournament-best 69 in round two of the tournament while finishing with a 71 in round one and a 74 in round three. Freeman got better in every round, as she had a 74 in round one, 73 in round two and a 67 in round three.Â
Eugenie Varet was the next best score for the Buccaneers, placing 19th overall in the tournament with a score of 222. She finished with a 72, 74 and 76. She was followed by
Katie Stephens, who finished with a 228 (74, 78, 76) and
Odette Font (75, 79, 79).Â
Richmond won the tournament, finishing with an overall score of 869 (+4). Coastal Carolina finished as runners up with a score of 872 (+8) followed by Elon at 876 (+12). The Bucs are back in action Mar. 4 and 5, as they travel to Wallace, N.C. to participate in the River Landing Invitational.Â
