CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern junior Braxton Drummond leads four Bucs who will compete in this weekend's NCAA East Regional at the University of North Florida as they vie for spots in the June 11-14 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.

Drummond, who earned First Team All-American status earlier this year with a seventh place finish in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships, competes Thursday at 2 p.m. His 7.65 meter qualifying time at the Big South Outdoor Championships is the 37th best mark in the nation and 16th best in the east region. Drummond and CSU's other competitors need a top-12 finish to qualify for the NCAA Championships in two weeks.
CSU sophomore Jarad Jeter makes his NCAA debut in the 400-meter dash and enters the event with the 45th best time nationally and the 25th top time in the east region. Jeter earned his way into the NCAA East Regional with a 46.54 second showing at the Florida Relays. He finished sixth among collegiate competitors at that prestigious event. Jeter will try to top his time on Thursday at 7:20 p.m.
Two Bucs will compete in the hammer throw on Friday at 10 a.m. for head coach Roosevelt Lofton and throws coach Josh Aydlette. Senior Richie German and freshman Clarence Gallop look to build off strong outings at the Florida Relays in April. German set a school-record in the hammer throw at that event with a throw of 59.76 meters, good for a fourth place finish. Gallop also continued a stellar freshman season at the Florida Relays, throwing 58.33 meters to earn a seventh place standing among the field of 22 competitors.
