ROCK HILL, S.C. – Charleston Southern junior MeMe Jean captured her second straight 100-meter hurdles title at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday.
Jean ran in 13.91 seconds to best the field and lead the way on the final day of the championships for coach Tosha Ansley and the Bucs. Teammate Dotrine Jacobs also put forth a strong showing in the event, finishing fourth with a time of 14.28 seconds. Jacobs also narrowly missed out on a championship in the 400-meter hurdles, earning a second-place finish by running just .003 seconds behind first place Jessica Gelibert of Coastal Carolina.
As a team, CSU currently stands fifth with 67 points. Coastal Carolina leads the way with 216 points, with Liberty in second at 172 points. The conclusion of the championship was delayed until Monday due to late rain. The women's pole vault will be held at 2 p.m., while the men's high jump will be at 3 p.m.
In the 4x100 meter relay, the Bucs' squad of Jean, Mary Elliott, Jacobs and Danielle Burnett ran in 46.72 seconds to finish third.
Other highlights for CSU on Saturday included Kolisha Coleman's third-place finish in the 400-meter dash and LaQuestis Scott's sixth place standing in the same event. In the 1500-meter, Jessie Dotson accomplished a sixth place finish with a time of 4:50.57. Fellow distance runner Hannah Palm competed in the 800-meter finals, finishing eight with a time of 2:25.87.
Among the Bucs' throwers, Joshlyn Noga led the way with a 33.61 meter discus throw, good for 12th place.
