CSU Scores Three Unanswered Goals in 3-1 Victory

LEXINGTON, Va. - Charleston Southern won their second game in a row as they came from an early 1-0 deficit to beat V.M.I. 3-1 in Big South soccer action Saturday afternoon at Patchin Field.

The Lady Bucs improve to 5-9-2 with a 2-5 mark in the Big South after winning their second-straight game. V.M.I. falls to 4-11 overall, with a 0-7 mark in the League.

Audrey Falconi started the scoring in the 12th minute, scoring from the top of the box to put V.M.I. ahead 1-0 early.

CSU would find an answer though as a goal by Alyssa Clay, her second of the season, tied the game with 25-minutes left in the first half.

CSU would take the lead less than two minutes into the second period when Sarah Catenacci blasted a shot that deflected off a V.M.I. defender and into the back of the net.

Charleston Southern extended the lead with time winding down and up a man after three players (two V.M.I. and one CSU) were sent off with red cards. Christine Bethke took the pass from Lindsey Trexler and blasted a one-timer from the top of the box to give CSU the 3-1 lead.

The Lady Bucs will take their winning streak to Orangeburg, S.C. to face South Carolina State on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match.
