CHARLESTON, S.C. – Jenéa Knight scored her team-leading third goal of the season in the 56th minute, and Charleston Southern women's soccer secured a 1-0 win over Winthrop in Big South play Wednesday afternoon at CSU Soccer Field.

After a tightly contested first half, the Buccaneers broke through early in the second when Rowyn Serne lofted a perfect corner kick into the box. Serne's pass found Jessica Boyle who dished it to Knight on the opposite side of the box to put CSU on the board. The defense held strong the rest of the way, with reigning Big South Defensive Player of the Week Avery Mason making five saves to post her third clean sheet of the year.

The Bucs tallied nine shots, including eight on target, while holding a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Mason's back line limited the Eagles to just five shots on frame across 90 minutes of play.
