CHARLESTON — Wednesday, the Charleston Southern men's basketball program and head coach Saah Nimley announced the addition of former CSU student-athlete, Luke Williams to the team's staff as a graduate assistant coach.

During his lone season at Charleston Southern in 2025-26, Williams made an immediate impact for the Buccaneers, appearing in 20 games with 18 starts. Williams averaged 10.6 points and a team-high 31.0 minutes per game while ranking second on the team with 88 assists and third in three-point percentage at 39.6 percent. He reached double figures in 12 games, including a season-high 22 points against Toccoa Falls.

Williams also reached significant career milestones during his final season on the court, recording his 1,500th career point and 250th career assist. After helping lead the Buccaneers on the court, Williams will now return to Charleston Southern as a graduate assistant.

When asked about his feelings regarding his former point guard joining his staff, Coach Saah Nimley said,

"We are thrilled to welcome Luke back to our program as a part of our staff. Luke had an instant and winning impact on our program from the moment he got here a year ago. He understands who we are and how we do things here and really embraces our culture. He will relate to and provide mentorship to our players, and that will be invaluable through a long season."
