CHARLESTON — Monday, the Charleston Southern men's basketball program and head coach Saah Nimley announced the elevation of Assistant Coach Nate Louis to Recruiting Coordinator.

Louis has been part of the Buccaneer basketball program for the past eight seasons, serving as a player from 2018-20, Video Coordinator in 2020-21, Director of Basketball Operations in 2021-22, and Assistant Coach since 2022.

During his tenure as an assistant coach, Louis has played a crucial and consistent role in the program's player development, recruiting, scouting, and operations efforts. Over the past three seasons, he has served as the position coach for the team's post players, helping guide multiple big men into the program's record book, including Reginald Duhart Jr., Reis Jones, and Lase Olalere.

During the 2025–26 season, the Buccaneers recorded a program-best 156 blocked shots. Louis' rim-protecting big men accounted for 81 percent of that historic total, including 59 rejections by Jones — now the CSU single-season record holder for blocks by an individual player.

When asked about the opportunity and his excitement surrounding the new title, Louis commented:

"I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to bring in more blue-collar student-athletes who fit the mold of our program here at Charleston Southern. I'm grateful to Coach Nimley for his continued belief in me, and feel blessed to be part of the direction this program is headed."

Not only was Louis known as a three-point specialist during his playing career, but perhaps his most impressive three points were achieved in the classroom as he is the owner of three college degrees: AA Degree in Pre-Allied Health from South Georgia State College (2018), Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Charleston Southern University (2020), and a Masters in Education also from Charleston Southern University (2024).
