CHARLESTON — Wednesday afternoon, the Big South Conference announced its newest Women's Tennis Player of the Week Award of the 2026 Spring season, Charleston Southern's Marina Skegro.
Skegro delivered a standout week, leading the way for her team in both singles and doubles competition. Partnering with Carlota Farres, Skegro helped secure two impressive doubles victories, including a decisive 6–2 win over the No. 1 pairing from Queens and a 6–4 triumph against East Carolina's top duo.
In singles play, Skegro remained undefeated, earning straight-set wins over Charlotte's Shona Nakano (6–4, 6–4) and battling through a three-set match to defeat Savekova from East Carolina, 6–1, 3–6, 6–4. Her clutch performances across both lineups were instrumental in key wins and highlighted her consistency and resilience throughout the week against an ASUN and two American Athletic Conference institutions.
The TennisBucs will host UNC Greensboro tomorrow, Thursday March 12th at 10:00 AM.
