Sumler Wins Big South Player of the Week Award After Triple-Double Performance

CHARLESTON – On Monday afternoon, the Big South Conference announced its newest Player of the Week award winner, Charleston Southern's A'lahn Sumler.

Over the weekly period, Sumler led all Big South players in scoring with 28.0 points per game, 4.5 points more than second place (Winthrop's Logan Duncomb - 23.5). He also finished first in assists per game, a category he leads the Big South in, with 5.5 per game last week. On the boards, Sumler's 9.0-rebound average ranked fifth in the league in addition to a top-ten finish in the field goal percentage column as well (48.8%).

In CSU's first contest of last week vs Gardner-Webb, Sumler posted 27 points and 7 rebounds in only 27 minutes of play as the Bucs defeated GWU. On Saturday, Sumler recorded the first triple-double by a CSU player since 2020 (Phlandrous Fleming Jr.) – 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Charleston Southern only has two contests remaining on their regular season schedule: February 26th vs Winthrop at 7:00 PM and February 28th at UNC Asheville at 2:00 PM.
