CHARLESTON – After over a week of no travel, the Charleston Southern men's basketball program will face two opponents on the road for week four of Big South conference play: at Presbyterian on January 21st and at Longwood on January 24th.
A brief preview of all three opponents can be found below:
Game #21
Opponent: at Presbyterian
Date: January 21st
Time: 7:00 PM
TV: ESPN+
-
Last season, when CSU traveled to Clinton to face the Blue Hose, Presbyterian bested the Bucs, 71–61. Reis Jones and Lase Olalere combined to play 38 minutes in the contest. Jones scored a team-third 12 points and grabbed a team-second seven rebounds.
-
So far this season, Presbyterian has earned a hard-fought 3–2 record in Big South play. Last week, the Blue Hose went undefeated, defeating UNC Asheville, 71–70, and earning a road win at Gardner-Webb, 92–55.
-
The Blue Hose's premier player is 6'10" redshirt senior forward Jonah Pierce. A contender in the 2026 Big South Player of the Year race, Pierce is averaging 19.8 points and 11.4 rebounds in conference play. Last week against UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb, Pierce recorded two double-doubles, bringing his season total to 10. Last season, Pierce suffered a season-ending injury in November and did not appear in 2024–25 conference play.
-
Pierce's partner in the frontcourt is fellow 6'10" big man Jaylen Peterson. Averaging more than 30 minutes per night, Peterson ranks third on the team in league scoring at 14.2 points per game and second in rebounding at 7.0 per contest. In Pierce's absence last season, Peterson emerged as PC's premier rim protector, setting the Blue Hose's Division I-era single-season record with 52 blocks.
-
PC is not short on guard play. After being home to All–Big South guard Kory Mincy last season, conference fans were eager to see who would fill his role and the 32 minutes per game that came with it. The new face of the Presbyterian backcourt is junior Carl Parrish, who is averaging 14.8 points per game in league play while shooting 51-percent from the field.
-
The head coach of the Blue Hose is Quinton Ferrell. Ferrell has been coaching in the PC program for 12 years and is in his seventh season as head coach. In 2023–24 and 2024–25, his teams combined for 28 wins, the best two-year stretch of his career. With 10 wins already this season, 2025–26 is on track to be Ferrell's best year to date. Like CSU head coach Saah Nimley, Ferrell began his time in Clinton as a player. A three-year starting point guard for PC, Ferrell is regarded as one of the best defenders in program history under former head coach Gregg Nibert.
-
Charleston Southern leads the all-time series between the two programs, 23–15.

Game #22
Opponent: at Longwood
Date: January 24th
Time: 4:00 PM
TV: ESPN+
-
When the Buccaneers and Lancers met in Farmville last season, Longwood edged CSU by five points, 83–78.
-
Like CSU, Longwood is 2–3 through its first five games of Big South play. The Lancers' lone contest last week came on the road against the Radford Highlanders, where Radford defeated Longwood by a narrow two-point margin, 85–83.
-
In that matchup at Radford, Longwood was led by its representative at 2025 Big South Media Day, Elijah Tucker. The 6-foot-8, 232-pound forward posted an impressive 17 points and 16 rebounds. Through five conference games, Tucker is averaging 12.4 points and 8.0 rebounds a night.
-
A battle of Richmond's finest will be on display Saturday when CSU guard Brycen Blaine squares off against Longwood's top-scorer and Richmond-native, Redd Thompson Jr. Thompson has already recorded three double-figure scoring performances in league play, including a 21-point outing at Radford last week.
-
Longwood is led this season by Head Coach Ronnie Thomas, who was named to the position in March 2025 after serving as an assistant with the Lancers from 2020 to 2025.
