Buccaneers Drop Road Match Against Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. – A pair of second-half goals lifted Furman past Charleston Southern, 2-0, Sunday afternoon.
 
The teams played an even first half, with CSU generating five shots to Furman's four. The Buccaneers tested Furman goalkeeper Reese DeJong with looks from Rowyn Serne and Eve Tiktikakis, while Avery Mason answered with three saves to keep the match scoreless at the break.
 
Furman broke through in the 60th minute when Emma Sexton scored off a setup from Jaleah Simmons. Just two minutes later, Sexton struck again, this time finishing off an assist from Ava King to double the Paladin lead.
 
Charleston Southern fought to respond, earning two corners in the match and registering late chances from Keelin Robertson and Rachel Gopalakrishnan, but the Paladins held firm to secure the shutout.
