St. SIMONS ISLAND, GA. – Men's Golf wrapped up their spring break at The Peoples Championship hosted by Western Carolina.
The Buccaneers claimed 18
th at the tournament with a three round score of +30. They played one round each of the three days that the event was held. Charleston Southern opened the week with a +8 and went on to post back-to-back scores of +11.
Layne Lambert was the squad's top finisher, claiming a tie for 39
th in the field of 118 golfers. He finished with a score of +4, ending the week with a 69 (-2) on Saturday.
Dewi John was the next highest finisher with his +7 for a tie for 54
th. He opened the week with a 69 (-2) for his best round.
Also in the lineup for the week were
Griffin Tarver,
Theodor Takman and
Alex North. Tarver and Takman were each +11 for a tie for 77
th while North was +14 for a tie for 92
nd.
Drexel's Drue Nicholas won the individual title with a -12 and UNCG won the team title by 16 strokes with a score of -21.
Charleston Southern has two more events remaining before the Big South Championships. They will travel to Snow Hill, N.C. for East Carolina's Cutter Creek Intercollegiate and then App State's The Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis. The first will be held from Friday, March 28 through Sunday, March 30 and Monday, April 7 to Tuesday, April 8.
