FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Charleston Southern men's golf team earned a runner-up team finish at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate, closing the tournament with a three-round total of 863 (+11) at Ocean Creek Golf Club on St. Helena Island. The Buccaneers posted rounds of 289, 284, and 290 to finish second in the nine-team field.
Bailey Bjornson led the Buccaneers with a stellar performance, tying for second place individually at 1-under par. He opened with a 72, followed it with a 71 in the second round, and closed strong with a 69 to finish at 212. His T2 finish marks the highest of his CSU career and is his highest collegiate finish since taking second place in the GNAC Championships his freshman year at Simon Fraser University.
Dewi John also recorded a top-five finish, tying for fifth at +1. He fired rounds of 73, 70, and 71 for a three-day total of 214.
Theo Takman finished inside the top 10, tying for ninth. He carded back-to-back 71s to begin the tournament and closed with a 74 to finish at 216 (+3).
Owen Newberry placed 27th overall, posting scores of 73, 72, and 78 to finish at 223 (+10).
Harrison Parker rounded out the CSU lineup, tying for 45th with rounds of 80, 75, and 76 for a three-round total of 231 (+18).
Competing as an individual, Alex North tied for 13th after shooting 74-74-70 to finish at 218 (+5). His final-round 70 was one of CSU's lowest rounds of the closing day.
Charleston Southern's second-round 284 was their best team performance of the week and helped secure their second-place overall finish.
