CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern women's soccer team opened their season on Thursday afternoon, as they fell to the Furman Paladins by a 3-2 score with Furman taking the lead in the 86
th minute.
The Paladins (1-0-0) scored three goals in the second half to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit. Charleston Southern (0-1-0) got on the board first, as
Elin Persson scored the first goal of the season in the 38th minute.
After Furman scored a goal in the 60th minute,
Danika Birch scored her first collegiate goal in the 73
rd minute mark on a header from a corner kick courtesy of
Gracen Beilstein. Then, the Paladins tied the match with 13 minutes left.
Beilstein led the Bucs with two assists on the two Buccaneer goals.
Jessica Boyle had two shots, one of which was on goal, and
Jenna Moran had eight saves. The Bucs had 10 shots with five shots on goals.
