Track and Field Announces 2024 Schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern track and field announced their 2024 indoor and outdoor schedules for their upcoming season on Tuesday. The slate features some of the premier meets in the country that will put the Buccaneers against some of the nation's top talent.

The season begins with the Buccaneers traveling to Boston, Massachusetts for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. The meet will be competed on Saturday, December 2, and will be the first time Charleston Southern has competed before January in a track season in over a decade. The Bucs are sending six athletes to compete in the 5K to help set them up for fast seed times the rest of the year as the track is known for producing some of the fastest in the country.

The indoor slate continues into January and February with the Buccaneers staying in-state to race at Clemson and South Carolina. They will make their first of three trips to USC for a meet on Saturday, January 13. Following that, they will travel to the Upstate for their lone two-day meet of the regular season hosted by Clemson for the Bob Pollock Invitational on January 26 and 27. The regular season ends with two trips to the University of South Carolina on Saturday, February 3 and Friday, February 16.

The Big South Championships are slated to be hosted by Virginia Tech University again in Blacksburg, Virginia. The meet is scheduled to be competed from Friday, February 23 through Saturday, February 24. The NCAA Championships for indoor will be competed at Boston Landing in Brighton, Massachusetts from March 8 to March 9.

The outdoor season begins with Charleston Southern hosting the CSU Buccaneer Invitational. The meet will be held within a day on Friday, March 15. The following week, the Bucs will be split up, either traveling to NC State or USC. N.C. State hosts the Raleigh Relays from March 21-23 while USC will be having the Weems Baskin Invitational from March 22-23. CSU as a team will then go to the Duke Relays which is from April 5-6. The regular season finishes with the team being split again with some going to the Wake Forest Invitational (4/19) and others to the Yellow Jacket Invitational (4/19-20) at Georgia Tech.

For the outdoor Big South Championships, High Point University will be serving as the hosts. The three-day event is slated to begin on Monday, May 6 and end on Wednesday, May 8. Following that, the NCAA's Prelims will be held at the University of Kentucky from May 22-25 with qualification to the NCAA Championships on the line with the University of Oregon serving as hosts for the event from June 5-8.

The Buccaneers are coming off third place finishes at each of the Big South Championship events in 2023 and are seeking to move up the leaderboard.
