CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern head volleyball coach David McFatrich has unveiled his 2022 slate, featuring a pair of tournaments and 15 overall home regular-season matches inside the CSU Fieldhouse. Action gets underway in less than two weeks with an intrasquad scrimmage and an exhibition tune-up before the first of four overall tournaments brings opponents to the Buc Dome.

TWO TO LEAD OFF
The season will start with a Blue-Gold scrimmage August 22 before the Buccaneers play host to Fresno State in an exhibition match two nights later. McFatrich and his staff will have a chance to do last-minute evaluations and preparations for the regular season in the two contests.

OPENING WEEKEND
Charleston Southern will then play host to the Zaxby's presents the VolleyBucs VolleyPalooza, August 26-27, to kick off the regular season. The other schools, including Appalachian State, Cal Baptist and St. John's, arrive in the Holy City for the two-day event. There will be three matches Friday and three more matches Saturday with the Bucs slated to clash against Appalachian State (7 p.m., August 26), Cal Baptist (10 a.m., August 27) and St. John's (5 p.m., August 27).

ONE MORE AT HOME BEFORE EXTENDED ROAD TRIP
The Buccaneers will then play host to South Carolina State (6 p.m., August 30) in a stand-alone clash before departing town for the next-two weekends, playing in tournaments elsewhere. CSU will travel to Macon, Georgia, for the Mercer Bears Classic (September 2-3), where it will square off against Queens (N.C.), Southern Miss and Mercer. The following weekend (September 9-10) takes Charleston Southern to West Virginia to compete in the Marshall Invite, meeting Murray State, Marshall and Kent State in Huntington.

SECOND HOME TOURNAMENT
The VolleyBucs return to the Buc Dome for the CSU Chucktown Throwdown, September 16-17. Another full weekend of matches is on tap with the Buccaneers set to face College of Charleston (7 p.m., September 16), Montana (10 a.m., September 17) and UNCG (5 p.m., September 17). The event again features three matches Friday and another three Saturday.

START OF CONFERENCE PLAY
The following week, Charleston Southern opens Big South action when it heads to Boiling Springs, North Carolina, for a clash with Gardner-Webb (6 p.m., September 22). League play at home begins two days later when CSU plays host to Campbell (4 p.m., September 24).

FINAL NON-CONFERENCE
The Bucs step out of the league calendar one last time for 2022 when they stay in the Lowcountry for a matchup at The Citadel (6 p.m., September 27). The contest will round out CSU facing each of the other Charleston-area schools during the season.

HOME CONFERENCE MATCHES
Charleston Southern will play host to seven additional Big South matches during the campaign, including USC Upstate (6 p.m., October 7), UNC Asheville (2 p.m., October 8), Gardner-Webb (2 p.m., October 22), High Point (6 p.m., October 28), Radford (2 p.m., October 29), Presbyterian (6 p.m., November 10) and Winthrop (6 p.m., November 11).

TOURNAMENT SETUP
This year's Big South Championships will include the top-four schools in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season. High Point will serve as the host institution for the two-day event, which will be held November 19 and 20.
