Three Bucs under or Even par Tuesday as CSU jumps into second

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Three Charleston Southern men's golfers carded an under or Even par score Tuesday, as the Buccaneers took advantage of moving day by climbing two spots into second place following the second round of the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate at the True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

TEAM CLIMB
CSU tallied a team score of 290, tying leader Gardner-Webb for the lowest in the field Tuesday. The 2-over par total moved the Buccaneers up two spots into second place, trailing their Big South foe by just four strokes entering Wednesday's final round and three shots clear of third-place Jacksonville State.

WILLIS ROARS BACK
A team-best five birdies during second-round action put Ethan Willis back among the Bucs counters, as he carded a 1-under par 71 to move into the Top 20 individuals. His five birdies came on the par-4, 404-yard No. 6; par-5, 548-yard No. 9; par-5, 584-yard No. 10; par-3, 204-yard No. 16 and par-4, 425-yard No. 18. He added 10 pars throughout his day, including five-in-a-row from No. 11 through No. 15, playing to a 3-under par 32 on the back nine.

CARROLL; SMITH IN HUNT FOR MEDALIST HONORS
The two CSU leaders after Monday's first day, Ben Carroll and Alan Smith, continued to play well. Carroll posted his second-straight 1-under 71, including another 33 on the back nine. He had four birdies, matching Willis' efforts on No. 9 and No. 16 in addition to dropping them in on the par-5, 548-yard No. 4 and the par-4, 407-yard No. 12. He contributed 11 pars with his longest stretch being three straight, from No. 13 through No. 15.

Smith, the Buccaneers' leader after day one, registered an Even-par 72 to keep pace with his teammates and own a share of fourth-place on the individual leaderboard with Carroll. He had two birdies, on the par-4, 410-yard No. 13 and No. 16, while piecing together a par-heavy round with 14 on the day, including two, four-hole spans, covering No. 1-4 and No. 6-9.

Carroll and Smith are four strokes behind individual-leader Zack Byers of Gardner-Webb as two of five players with an under-par cumulative score through 36 holes.

LOUDIN; TARVER WITH TWO BIRDIES EACH
The final two members of the squad participating in the tournament are Caleb Loudin and Griffin Tarver, each recording two birdies. Loudin's under par scores were on No. 4 and the par-5, 590-yard No. 15, as he was the final counter with his 4-over 76, while Tarver found birdies on the par-4, 382-yard No. 8 and also on No. 15.

Charleston Southern and the rest of the teams will conclude the event with the final 18 holes Wednesday on the par-72, 6,978-yard course.
