CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern put together the top-two times in school history in the 10,000 meters, the final event of the day, as the Buccaneers men's outdoor track and field squad was split Friday between the Weems Baskin Invitational in Columbia and others at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina.

FINAL EVENT; BEST RESULTS
It may have been the last event to conclude at the Raleigh Relays but the Bucs made the most of it, as Fearghal Curtin shattered the program record in the 10,000 meters with his eighth-place time of 28:25.43. It also ranks second in Big South history, as he topped the 30:13.40 set by Jeryck Wilson at the 2018 Virginia Challenge.

The other CSU runner in the event – Micah Gilpatric – also had a strong showing, placing 14th with his time of 28:52.45, which ranks second to Curtin program history as well as sixth among all-time performances in the Big South.

TWO OTHER PRS IN RALEIGH
Among the other Buccaneers competing in Raleigh, two other personal records were established Friday. Luciano Custodio set a new time in the 400 meters, running to a 49.25, while Holden Gerth placed 10^th in the high jump by clearing the 2.00m (6'6.75") bar.

STEEPLECHASE YIELDS STRONG TIMES IN COLUMBIA
Up the road in the state capital, three CSU runners were in the top-eight finishers in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, led by Jeff Wedding's personal-record time of 9:49.80 to place third in the event. Alex Zangara (10:14.14) and Jacob Hamacher (10:32.99) crossed the finish line in sixth and eighth, respectively.

UP NEXT
The weekend concludes Saturday with the final day of competition at the Raleigh Relays. No other Buccaneers will participate in the final day of the Weems Baskin Invitational.
