Volleyball Hits the Road for the Final Time of the Season

Charleston Southern will spend their next two games away from the Buc Dome, as they travel to UNC Asheville on Friday night for a 6 p.m. match with the Bulldogs; followed by a 2 p.m. match with the USC Upstate Spartans on Saturday.

This will be the final road trip of the regular season for David McFatrich's team, who will head into this weekend's matches with a 12-14 record (5-7). They look to continue their success after getting a win over the Radford Highlanders last Saturday in four sets.

UNC Asheville
The Bulldogs own a 4-18 (1-11) record going into Friday's match.  They are fresh off of their first conference win of the season, having swept USC Upstate last Friday at home. Prior to that, they had lost 13 matches in a row; including one match to the Charleston Southern back on October 8 in a five-set affair.

UNC Asheville holds a 38-17 series lead on the Buccaneers overall. The Bulldogs are led by Head Coach Frederico Santos, who is in year 12 at the helm in Asheville.

USC Upstate
This will be the second time that the Buccaneers have seen the Spartans this season, with the first match ending in a 1-3 loss at the Buc Dome on October 7. With that win, the Spartans now hold a 7-2 advantage in the overall series.

Led by Head Coach Ronda Shirley, who is in her fourth season in Spartanburg, USC Upstate has a 6-19 (3-9) record this season. Since the win against Charleston Southern last month, the Spartans have lost seven matches in a row and were swept in their previous two matches at the hands of UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb.

For Charleston Southern, Indigo Young continues to loom over the rest of the Big South Conference with a .368 hitting percentage; well above the next best. Angelika Rusin leads the conference in digs with 489 and Peyton Thompson is second in the conference in points per set (4.2) and third in the conference in kills per set (3.6)

Both matches this weekend will be streamed on ESPN+.
