CHARLESTON, S.C. – Facing the league leaders who had only lost two sets all season, Charleston Southern volleyball pushed High Point to five sets in both matches but fell 3-2 in both, the first time the Bucs have lost a series this season.
Charleston Southern (7-3, 7-3 Big South) and High Point (12-0, 12-0 Big South) traded the first four sets of the finale before the top-seeded Panthers took control of the final and fifth set of the night.
Dayana Chara paced the Buccaneer attack with 17 kills in the finale of the twinbill while
Peyton Thompson added 15 and
Paige Reagor had 10, giving the sophomore 37 on the day between the two matches.
High Point was led by the trio of Annie Sullivan (15 kills), Kaley Rammelsberg (13 kills) and Maggie Salley (10 kills) as both teams hit above .214 in both matches.
Charleston Southern heads to Gardner-Webb for a Thursday-Friday series March 25 and 26 before returning home to host USC Upstate just three days later. Thursday's opener at Gardner-Webb is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
