Carroll surges into Top 10 after under-par final round

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – Ben Carroll carded the low score for the Charleston Southern men's golf team Monday with a 1-under par 71 to enter the Top-10 individuals and conclude fall play at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate at the Daniel Island Club on Daniel Island.

JEFFERS' THOUGHTS
"The first Daniel Island Intercollegiate was a great success and we are so thankful to the club and all the staff for their support this week," head coach Jordan Jeffers said. "Congratulations to Seton Hall for an incredible win."

36 HOLES UNDER PAR
Carroll's strong finish came after he posted a 3-under par 69 in Sunday's second round, as he rapidly climbed the overall leaderboard. He earned a seventh-place tie among the 104 participants and was one of just nine players under par.

WILLIS DROPS BACK
The leading Bucs player through Sunday's 36 holes, Ethan Willis, came in after Carroll with a 3-over 219. He tallied a 77 Monday, equaling Colin Trahan's mark as the final counters for CSU.

SMITH HOLDS STEADY
Alan Smith continued his consistency throughout the tournament, firing a 76 for the second time and just one stroke higher than his middle-round 75. He notched an 11-over par 227 for the entire event, tying for 56th.

TEAM ALSO MATCHES FIRST ROUND
The Buccaneers recorded their second 301 of the tournament after also posting the score during Sunday's first round. It kept them one shot off the pace of the Top-10 teams and finishing in the top-half of the field.

"As a team, we would have liked to have played better but there were many positives to take from this week. We have a lot to learn from this semester and I know we will come back next semester stronger and looking for a Big South championship."

UP NEXT
Charleston Southern will resume play in the spring with a full schedule to be announced at a later date.
