GREENSBORO, N.C. – Charleston Southern men's golf carded its third-straight round of 296, slotting it 11th out of 15 schools as the Grandover Collegiate tournament wrapped up Sunday afternoon at The Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.
MATCHING SCORES ACROSS THE BOARD
The Buccaneers notched a 296 in all three rounds, the only school to post the same score across each of the 18-hole segments. Four other schools (East Carolina, Samford, Richmond, George Washington) all had two rounds of identical scores.
SMITH DROPS INTO 60S
Alan Smith paced CSU after his 3-under par 69 Sunday to place 11th on the individual leaderboard. It was one of six scores in the 60s during the last 18 holes among the 101 participants. He had seven birdies during the round, including four in a six-hole stretch from No. 12 through No. 17, after starting on No. 11, before adding three more on holes No. 2, No. 8 and No. 9 after a blistering 33 on the front nine.
TRAHAN FINISHES STRONG
Colin Trahan was the next Bucs player in the clubhouse, as he tallied a 2-over par 74. He dropped in birdies on the par-4, 440-yard 17th and the par-4, 390-yard 9th to highlight his round on his way to tying for 37th.
LOUDIN EAGLES ON EIGHT
The lone eagle for CSU came off the club of
Caleb Loudin, capping a run of three holes in which he was improved by four strokes. His stretch came with back-to-back birdies on the par-5, 555-yard No. 6 and par-3, 190-yard No. 7 before the eagle on the par-4, 325-yard No. 8. Loudin also had a birdie on the par-5, 570-yard No. 18, assisting in his 66th-place standing.
ONE BIRDIE FOR WILLIS
The final counter for the Buccaneers Sunday was
Ethan Willis, who used a birdie on the No. 6 hole on his way to a 5-over par 77.
AT HOME TO FINISH
Charleston Southern will put the bow on its fall tournament season by playing host to the Daniel Island Invitational next Sunday and Monday at the Daniel Island Club. The 54-hole tournament will feature some of the top teams from around the region and nationally.
