BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Charleston Southern gave league-leading Campbell all it could handle Wednesday night, but the Camels edged the Bucs by a 2-1 scoreline at the Eakes Athletics Complex.
Lauren McDonald scored her first goal of the season in the losing effort, while
Erin Rush provided the assist on the goal.
Jenna Moran made three saves for the Bucs.
Campbell took an early lead when Laney Peabody scored just six minutes into the contest. The Camels had a 7-2 advantage in shots in the half, but Moran saved the only other shot on target in the opening 45 minutes.

Kayla Reese had the two shots for the Bucs in the first half.
The Bucs wasted no time tying up the match in the second half, as McDonald scored less than three minutes into the half. Charleston Southern upped its pressure and gained momentum for a period after the McDonald goal but was unable to capitalize on anything.
Campbell broke through with just over 20 minutes left on the clock, as Reagan Baiotto scored to make it a 2-1 match. The Camels held CSU to just one shot in the final 20 minutes and held on for the one-goal win.
