Box Score
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Siera Kirby scored her first career goal in the waning moments of regulation to cap a frantic 15 minutes of action in Charleston Southern's 2-2 tie against Longwood in a Big South contest at the CSU Soccer Field.
The Buccaneers (4-1-2, 1-0-1 Big South) continued their hot start by twice rallying from a one-goal deficit to gain the draw, with Kayla Robinson scoring the first CSU goal at the 75-minute mark to deadlock the contest at 1. Longwood is now 2-4-3 overall and 0-0-2 in conference play.
How It Happened
- Longwood held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 but the Bucs were able to answer both times
- The Lancers scored first with 1:11 left in the first half on a goal by Madison Lockamy off an assist by Danielle Toone.
- It stayed that way until Sidney Doherty found Robinson, who launched a hard shot that Madison Van Dyke got a hand on but could not stop from entering the top right corner of the goal.
- Just over four minutes later, Longwood was awarded a free kick from just outside the box and Kelly Almeida converted to give the Lancers a 2-1 edge.
- With time ebbing away in regulation, Taylor Francis directed a perfect cross through the box to Kirby, who beat Van Dyke to her right to tie it up.
- Both teams had four shots in the two 10-minute overtime periods, with CSU putting three on target in the second stanza, but neither side could break the tie.
