Game Notes Now Available for CSU vs Pfeiffer

The Charleston Southern women's basketball team is set to take on the Pfeiffer Falcons tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm. This will be only the second matchup between the two schools in their history, with the first being a victory for the Bucs in the 2006-07 season. The CSU Bucs have started out their 2010-11 campaign 3-6, with wins over Erskine, Voorhees, and UNC Greensboro. They look to return to their winning ways at home after a close loss on the road to in state opponent Furman.

Tip off is scheduled for tomorrow's game at 2 p.m. at Buccaneer Fieldhouse.

Saturday's game will be broadcast by the Big South Conference and will be available on a subscription basis. Live stats will also be provided by the CSU sports Information department. All of the links can be found below.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS

The Falcons of Pfieffer are coming into Saturday's game off of a 40-point blowout win against Conference Carolinas opponent Lees McCrae.

In that contest Pfeiffer University drained 14 three-point shots placing five players in double-digits as the Lady Falcons registered an 83-43 victory in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action on Wednesday night. The win moves Pfeiffer to 3-4 overall, 2-0 in league play while the Lady Bobcats fall to 0-6, 0-1.

The Falcons have three players averaging double figures in points. Leading the Falcons is Devona Knight with a 15.8 ppg average.

A BRIEF SERIES HISTORY

CSU leads the all-time series against Pfieffer 1-0. Their only meeting coming in Julie Goodenough's first year at Charleston Southern in 2006-2007.

In that contest, the Lady Bucs spread out the offense with four players hitting double figures, led by senior Keena Wicker's 23 points. Wicker connected on 10 of her first 13 shots, finishing the game 11-of 16, (.688). Sophomore point guard Pam Tolbert had 17 points and eight assists, while junior Natalie Caldwell and senior Amber James scored 11 and 10 points respectively. The Lady Bucs shot 57.4 percent from the field (31-54) and 60 percent (3-5) from the three point line. The Falcons, on the other hand, shot 38 percent (27-71) from the field and connected on just 2-of-14 from behind the arc.

CONFERENCE CAROLINAS

CSU has won six consecutive games against teams from Conference Carolinas, holding a 18-5 all-time record against teams that will compete in that league this season. The Buccaneers' last loss against 2010-11 member of Conference Carolinas was an 84-83 setback to the Coker Cobras to start the 1993-94 season.

The Bucs have started of the season 3-0 at Buccaneer Field House. CSU has outscored their opponents at a total of 274-184 in their three contests at home, and have an average winning margin of 30.0 in those games.
