Erik Schwager

Erik Schwager joined Charleston Southern in February of 2024 as the Director of Strength and Conditioning. In his role, he oversees all workouts for the workouts as well as the Athletic Performance Center. He brings over a decade of collegiate athletics strength and conditioning experience with him to the Buccaneers' department.

Schwager arrives at CSU after spending the past year as a contractor for strength and conditioning with Reef Corp Systems. Prior to that he worked at Kansas State as the Assistant Football Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Before that role, he had stints as the Director of a pair of programs in Northwestern State and Newberry College. While in Louisiana he was directly responsible for everything that happened in the program including oversight of the staff and worked directly with the football, men's basketball, women's basketball and baseball programs. While at Newberry, he oversaw all aspects of strength and conditioning for the school's 22 programs. During his second season with the school, the team won the 2016 football South Atlantic Conference Championship.

Schwager has also worked as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Limestone College and the University of Hartford. While at Hartford, he worked with MLB first round pick Sean Newcomb. Additionally, he has worked within the St. Louis Cardinals organization and held intern positions at Princeton University, the University of South Florida and Michigan State University.
