Chase Martaus joined Charleston Southern in September of 2022 as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. He serves as the primary contact for Charleston Southern women’s soccer, women’s basketball and softball.
Along with working in the Sports Information Department, Martaus serves as the primary public address voice of the Buccaneers' football,softball and other sports across campus.
Before his time at CSU, Martaus worked as a broadcast and media relations assistant with the Charleston RiverDogs, a Single-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. While working for the RiverDogs, he wrote feature stories on players and staff members and was one of the primary commentators for the team's broadcast on MILB TV and the RiverDogs Broadcast Network for the entire 2022 season.
Martaus began his career in college athletics in the fall of 2018, covering Georgia Southern sporting events for the on-campus news team, The George Anne. In the fall of 2019, Martaus began serving as a commentator and camera operator for baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and volleyball for Georgia Southern's ESPN+ broadcasts. He has worked numerous productions with the SEC Network and the University of Georgia.
A native of Peachtree City, GA, Martaus graduated from Georgia Southern University in May of 2021, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Journalism. .
