MACON, GA – Charleston Southern volleyball opened the Mercer Invitational on Friday morning with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-15) loss to Georgia State at Hawkins Arena.
The Buccaneers moved to 6-5 on the season, while the Panthers picked up their sixth-straight victory to improve to 6-4.
CSU battled Georgia State closely throughout the opening set, trailing by just two points at 20-18 before the Panthers closed the frame on a 5-3 run to take a 25-21 advantage. Georgia State then carried its momentum into the second set, hitting .500 while taking a 25-12 victory.
The Panthers completed the sweep in the third set, hitting .448 and closing out the match with a 25-15 win.
Georgia State finished the match with a .400 hitting percentage compared to .099 for the Buccaneers. The Panthers also held advantages in kills, 44-33, digs, 45-37, and total blocks, 8-1.

The Bucs will face Montana State just a few hours after Friday morning's loss. CSU will play the Bobcats at Hawkins Arena at 3:00 PM. The match will not be broadcast.
