CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's basketball team kept pace early, but Radford used a big second quarter and a strong inside presence to pull away for a 92-78 win Saturday afternoon in the Buc Dome.
The Buccaneers placed four players in double figures, led by a game-high 23 points from
Caelan Ellis, who finished just three points shy of her career-high 26.
Tyonna Bailey added 14 points and 11 rebounds to record her fourth-straight double-double and sixth of the season, continuing her dominant stretch in conference play.
Thelma Barbitch scored 14 points on 4-for-5 shooting from three and freshman Aïssé Coulibaly tallied a career-high 11 points.
Charleston Southern came out aggressive, matching Radford possession-for-possession in the opening frame. The Highlanders narrowly edged the quarter 23-22, but CSU's shot-making kept the contest tight through the opening 10 minutes. Radford began to create separation in the second courtesy of a 9-0 run. The Highlanders shot over 70 percent from the field in the period and built a 49-39 halftime advantage.
The Buccaneers responded with one of their strongest stretches of the afternoon in the third quarter. CSU shot 43.8 percent in the period and knocked down three triples to keep pace. CSU cut the lead to single digits as Radford carried a 69-60 lead into the final frame. Ellis caught fire in the second half, scoring 18 of her 23 points, but Radford's efficiency sealed the 92-78 result.

Charleston Southern shot 46.7 percent (28-of-60) from the field and an efficient 50.0 percent (12-of-24) from beyond the arc. The Buccaneers also converted 10-of-13 (76.9 percent) at the free-throw line. Radford shot 50.7 percent overall and 36.0 percent from three, while finishing 15-of-18 (83.3 percent) at the line. The Highlanders held a 35-32 rebounding edge and outscored CSU 42-26 in the paint. Radford also generated 18 points off turnovers.

Midway through the second quarter, Radford used a 9-0 scoring run to extend a narrow lead into a double-digit margin.
