CHARLESTON – The Big South Conference announced the preseason accolades for the baseball season on Wednesday afternoon. There was a trio of Buccaneers selected to the Preseason All-Conference Team while the squad claimed fifth in the coaches poll.
 
Last season, Charleston Southern finished as the Tournament Runner-ups, falling to #1 USC Upstate on the championship day. The Buccaneers entered the postseason as the #3 seed after finishing the regular season with a record of 14-10 against Big South competition.
 
Kain Collins was the first of the three preseason All-Conference selections for the Bucs. Collins started in 46 games and played in 50 last fall in the outfield. He spent the majority of the year in the leadoff spot and had a .356 average and a .467 on base percentage. He had 67 hits, 59 runs scored, and 18 runs batted in. Additionally, he swiped 21 bases while drawing 35 walks.
 
Chandler Tuupo also earned a spot on the list. Tuupo is going into his fourth and final year with Charleston Southern, spending his whole playing career in the blue and gold. He enters the year as one of the top batters in school history and coming off another historic year at the plate. He finished the year with a  career-high 60 runs batted in and 48 runs scored. He batted .289, had on base percentage of .406 and slugging percentage of .461.
 
Tyler Henshaw rounded out the honorees for Charleston Southern. In his second season with the Buccaneers, he was named Second-Team All-Conference at the end of the year. He had a 7-1 record as one of the team's high leverage relief pitchers. He ended the year with a 5.4 ERA across his 22 appearances totaling 41.2 innings of work. He recorded 34 strikeouts and held batters to a .287 average against him. At the end of the regular season, he had an ERA of 3.69.
 
Charleston Southern begins their season on Friday, February 13 against Bucknell to kick off a three-game weekend series against the Bison.
