CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern's Nick Timpanelli inked a deal with the New Jersey Jackals in the Frontier League earlier this summer, becoming the Bucs' third pitcher to begin their professional career this offseason.
 
"I am super appreciative of everyone who has helped and supported me along the way at Charleston Southern," said Timpanelli. "It is exciting to be able to go out there for the Jackals and apply all the lessons I have learned these past few seasons at school."
 
Timpanelli joined the Jackals and has been an immediate mainstay in the squad's lineup. He started in each of his three appearances collecting 16.1 innings of work. In his most recent outing on July 12, he threw a career-long 7.0 frames.
 
Following the announcement, Head Coach Karl Kuhn said "Nick has been a staple on our pitching staff for two years. He was tremendous at junior college, and he had a very good career here at Charleston Southern. We are excited for Nick and his opportunity to play professional baseball."
 
This past season with the Bucs, he saw limited action due to injury but made nine starts across 12 appearances collecting 33.1 innings of work. He finished the year with a 2-3 record and collected 35 strikeouts after being named Preseason All-Conference by the league's head coaches.
 
In 2024, his first with the Bucs, he ended the year with an ERA of 5.36 in 16 appearances and nine starts. He held opposing batters to a .249 average and struck out 45 batters in his 50.1 innings of work, the third-most on the team that season. He held opposing left-handed batters to a .156 (7-45) average during the year.
 
This marks the fifth pitcher and the sixth player to sign professionally in the last three years from Charleston Southern University.
 
Currently, New Jersey holds a record of 20-35 on the year. They begin a three-game series with the New York this weekend with the first game scheduled for Friday, July 18.
