CHARLESTON, S.C. – Sedona Dancu's 88th-minute goal brought Charleston Southern back within striking distance, but the Buccaneers ultimately dropped a 2-1 decision to Vermont on Friday afternoon at CSU Soccer Field.
 
The Catamounts grabbed the lead early when Sydney Remington scored in the 10th minute. They doubled the advantage just after halftime as Aubrey Bough tallied in the 51st minute. CSU responded with energy in the second half, firing 11 shots after the break. The breakthrough came late when Dancu finished off a cross from Jenéa Knight for her first goal of the season.
 
The Buccaneers nearly equalized moments later as Rowyn Serne's 90th-minute effort went wide. CSU closed with 15 shots, including three on target, while goalkeeper Avery Mason posted six saves to keep the match within reach.
