CHARLESTON –
Ryan DuSang and the Ogden Raptors announced his signing with the professional baseball club out West earlier this weekend. DuSang was a First-Team All-Conference relief pitcher this year in the Big South and will be joining teammate,
Kyle Lewis, with the Raptors this summer. DuSang becomes the fourth pitcher from Charleston Southern in the past three seasons to sign a professional baseball contract.
"I am beyond excited to start my professional baseball career, but I know I would not be in this position without my time at Charleston Southern," said DuSang. "From the coaching staff who pushed me to be my best, to the teammates who became like family, and all the experiences in between, this program played a huge role in shaping me both on and off the field. I will always be thankful for the foundation and memories built here."
DuSang began his career at Madonna where he was one of the top pitchers in the nation and arrived at Charleston Southern in this past offseason as a graduate transfer. He finished the year with a 3.79 ERFA to go with a 3-0 record as well as two saves. He collected 42 strikeouts across his 40.1 innings of work in his 25 appearances. Of those 25 outings, in 17 of them he did not allow an earned run to score.
"Ryan came into our program and did a marvelous job in his one year here with us," said Head Coach
Karl Kuhn. "He was our go to guy out of the pen and his success was indicative of him earning First-Team All-Conference relief pitcher this year. Ryan is a tremendous competitor and a great clubhouse guy. We are excited and proud for him to take his talents to the next level in professional baseball."
Currently, Odgen holds a record of 20-15 on the year. They are concluding a six-game series against the Northern Colorado Owlz and have claimed each of the first five contests of the series over them and are looking to complete the sweep of them on Sunday.
