Bucs' Kaden Smith Named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE – The Big South announced the winners of the weekly awards on Monday afternoon with the Buccaneers' Kaden Smith earning player of the week. This marked the second time he has claimed the honor this season.

Smith had a day for the national record books on Saturday as he went 5-5 at the plate with each being a double. His tally of five doubles broke the school record by two and ties him for the NCAA record in the statistic, becoming just the ninth player in D1 history and the first since 2019 in the nation.

On the week, he tallied ten hits, ten RBIs, eight runs scored, two walks and two hit by pitches. He had a batting average of .625 to go with an on base of .700 and slugging of 1.188. His home run on Friday helped to break the school record for team single game home runs as they tallied seven in the contest to eclipse the mark set in 1985.

#3 Charleston Southern has their next game on Wednesday afternoon against #6 Presbyterian in High Point, N.C. in the Big South Championships. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with the action to be available live on ESPN+.
