Koppe Moves Up on School and Conference Leaderboard in 100m Hurdles at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, FLA. – Charleston Southern Women's Track and Field competed in the Florida Relays on Friday and Saturday, hosted by the University of Florida.
 
The lone field event going for the squad on the opening day of the meet was the javelin. Amelia Stembridge went for a personal best mark of 37.34m (122' 6") to move her up to third in school history for the event.
 
In the 4x400m, the Buccaneers had a tremendous showing in it with Maddie St. Louis, Grenisha Thomas, Brenda du Toit and Caroline Aslerin running in it. They had a time of 3:41.46 for a new season best and to move up to fourth in school history for the event for third in the heat and 13th overall in the field with them finishing ahead of multiple Power Five schools and high-major schools.
 
In the 400m hurdles, the Bucs raced du Toit and Thomas in it, both running in the sixth heat of the day. Thomas won the heat with her time of 59.81 and du Toit had a 60.79, with each of their times being just hundredths of a second off their personal bests.
 
Katrina Husby competed in the 1500m and had a time of 4:46.90 in it. She claimed fourth in the third and final heat at the meet.
 
The day's action got started for the team with the 4x100m relay. They ran a time of 46.47 with Nourhan Hassan, Thomas, Austyn Koppe and Maeva Tahou running in it.
 
On day two, the 100m hurdles was the first event that was ran. Koppe had the top time of the Buccaneers and claimed 20th overall in the field of nearly 50 with her personal best, win-legal time of 13.62. She remains second in school history for the event but moves up to eighth in Big South history. Tahou had a time of 13.94 in it for a personal best and the sixth-fastest time in school history for the event. Chloe Maé Wilks was just off her career best time as she had a 14.14.
 
St. Louis ran in the 400m and had a time of 57.93 in the race. They fielded Avah Morrison and Josaphine Ankney in the discus and Alayna Abrams and Ankney in the shot put. Ankney had the better shot put with a 13.07m while Morrison did in the discus with a 39.16m.
 
Next weekend, the Buccaneers will be heading north on I-26 to Columbia for the Gamecock Invite on Saturday, April 12.
