CHARLOTTE – The Big South announced the winners of the weekly awards for women's track and field on Wednesday afternoon. A pair of Buccaneers received honors from the league office with
Austyn Koppe claiming Women's Track Athlete of the Week and
Nourhan Hassan as the Freshman of the Week.
Koppe ran a personal best in the 100m hurdles this past weekend at the Charlotte Invitational with a time of 13.46 for sixth at the meet. The time slashed over a tenth of a second from off her personal best. She still ranks as the second-fastest in school history but moved up to seventh all-time in Big South history for the event. Additionally, at the meet she ran on the 4x100m and 4x400m relay squads.
Hassan ran a personal best in the 100m at the meet this weekend as well. She had a time of 11.95 (1.8) in the event to claim 10
th overall for the event. She also ran on the school's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams at the meet.
Charleston Southern has their next meet on Monday, May 12 through Wednesday, May 14 where they will be competing at the Big South Championships. This year, the event will be held at UNC Asheville in Asheville, North Carolina.
