CHARLESTON – The Buccaneers' Women's Track and Field began their 2025 outdoor season at their CSU Buc Open on Friday with the distance and throws squads competing.
In the field,
Amelia Stembridge had the top performance of all with her best javelin throw being a 36.15m in her collegiate debut in the event. The mark ranks as fourth in school history.
In the discus,
Avah Morrison won the event with a 40.22m while
Josaphine Ankney threw 39.50m. In the hammer throw and shot put,
Alayna Abrams and Ankney were the Bucs' 1-2 in the events with throws of 39.90m and 38.71m in the hammer and 12.64m and 12.28m in the shot put.
On the track, they fielded runners in the 800m and 1500m.
Charlize Antia won the 1500m with her career best time of 4:38.18, which ranks seventh in school history.
Taylar White and
Sarah Jacobs also ran personal bests with 4:42.48 and 4:50.17. In the 800m,
Valerie Capalbo won the race with
Finleigh Simonds taking second.
Charleston Southern has their next meet scheduled for Friday, March 21 through Saturday, March 22 at the Weems Baskin Invitational on the campus of South Carolina.
