CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern Women's Tennis kept their unblemished home record on Sunday as they defeated Lees-McRae by a sweep.
Jaden Davidson, a freshman, provided the clinching point for the Buccaneers as she played on the #3 court for singles today.
The Bobcats played gritty with the Bucs all throughout the doubles action.
Emmie Moore and
Brenda Yoris secured the first victory of the day for the squad with their 6-3 triumph on the #2 court. Davidson and Carlé Botha won on court #3 to claim the doubles point for CSU. They won the match by a 6-4 scoreline. The top-flight match went unfinished as the Lees-McRae duo was leading 5-4 over the Bucs'
Noa Boyd and
Amila Jusufbegovic.
In singles, the Buccaneers were able to major production from their lower courts as they each sprinted out to big leads and took the courts by straight-set decisions. Yoris' was the first to conclude with the score at 6-3, 6-4 at #6.
Kassandra Di Staulo's at #5 was the next completed with her 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Davidson clinched the victory for the squad with her 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 victory on the #3 court, a big performance from the true freshman. Minutes later, Boyd claimed the decision on the topflight with a 6-4, 6-2 scoreline.
Botha won her match as well, competing on the #4 court, overcoming a first set loss. The final result on her court was 1-6, 6-2, 7-5, another key win from one of the team's true freshmen. Jusufbegovic's match at #2 finished the day's results as she won in straight sets 7-5, 7-6 (4).
The Buccaneers will hit the road for their next three contests. They begin the stretch with a trip to Wofford this Saturday and then play at College and Charleston and Coastal Carolina on back-to-back days on Wednesday, February 19 and Thursday, February 20.
