LYNCHBURG, VA. – The Buccaneers' relays squads shined on the final day of the Darius Dixon Meet this Saturday on the campus of Liberty University. Each squad recorded a new season best for the lineup and placed themselves inside the school's all-time top ten for the event.
The day got rolling with the women's 200m. The Bucs had six entrees in the event and
Austyn Koppe was the top finisher for the team with her personal best time of 25.20 for 14
th overall.
Sophia Cupp was the next across the line from CSU in 25.42 and was followed by
Maeva Tahou in a career best time of 25.44.
Maddie St. Louis,
Caroline Aslerin and
Ruthika Saravanan also ran in the event.
Chloe Maé Wilks advanced through the prelims and semifinals in the 60m hurdles yesterday and ran in the finals today. She recorded a time of 8.61 to claim 5
th overall. She broke her career best in the event on Friday and her time in the finals also was below her personal best coming into the weekend.
In the field events,
Zemaya Carson and
Josaphine Ankney both competed in the shot put, taking top-20 finishes. Carson had a 42' 8" while Ankney had a 41' 6".
The group used for the distance medley relay (DMR) included
Charlize Antia, Saravanan,
Katrina Husby and
Sarah Jacobs and they claimed 6
th in the race. They had a time of 12:23.32 which comes in at 9
th on the school record book for the event.
Charleston Southern used the same runners in the 4x400m as they did at the start of the month in the Gamecock Opener to conclude the action at the meet. The group remains in 5
th in school history but slashed over a second off their time from that race with today's being a 3:46.90 to claim second overall at the meet. The relay featured St. Louis,
Grenisha Thomas,
Brenda du Toit and Aslerin.
Charleston Southern will be back in action next Saturday for the USC Open to conclude the regular season. The following weekend they will compete in the Big South Championships which will be held from Friday, February 28 through Saturday, March 1 on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
