CHARLESTON – Men's Golf announced the addition of graduate transfer Bailey Bjornson on Thursday morning. He will be joining the Buccaneers in the fall of 2025 with a year of eligibility remaining after spending the past three seasons at Simon Fraser, a Division II school in Canada.
"We are very excited to welcome Bailey to our program for the 2025-2026 season," said Interim Head Coach
Ben Carroll. "He has proven time and time again to be one of the best players in all of Division II golf while he was at Simon Fraser. He is an impressive young man with a fantastic mindset and drive to make Charleston Southern a national contender."
Since arriving at Simon Fraser, he has helped to elevate the men's golf program to a national level, leading them to a place in the NCAA Division II National Tournament as they claimed the GNAC Championship. During his time there, they had four team tournament wins and six runner-up finishes.
Through his individual career at the college level, he has posted a pair of top three finishes to go with nine top 10 finishes. His career scoring average is ranked as the second lowest in school history with it at 73.1. League honors include GNAC Freshman of the Year, two-time First-Team All-Conference while national honors have included NCAA Division II Ping All-Region Player.
On the Maple Leaf Junior tour, he posted 11 career victories to go with 11 career runner-up finishes while on the Vancouver Golf Tour he also had a victory to his name. He had a tournament scoring average of 73.1 and finished sixth on the MJT's national point list with a scoring average of 71.14.
He graduated from Pacific Academy in 2021, captaining them to the 2019 British Canadian AA Provincial Championship. Following the 2018 and 2019 seasons, he was named the team's most valuable player. In the classroom, he earned a place on the Headmasters List for his academic achievement following every school year.
"We are incredibly excited for him to be a part of our program and the guidance and leadership we will provide," shared Carroll.
Bjornson becomes the third signee for the Bucs during the winter as they look ahead to preparing for the 2025-2026 season. Charleston Southern will be teeing off their spring 2025 season this upcoming week as they will be competing in the Wexford Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion on Hilton Head Island, S.C. Following their Sunday practice round, they will be competing from Monday, February 17 through Tuesday, February 18.
