CHARLESTON – Friday evening, Charleston Southern volleyball hosted the Presbyterian Blue Hose for the final match of the 2025 regular season. The Bucs would sweep PC on Senior Night in straight sets (25-15, 25-20, 25-13).
CSU jumped out early and set the tone – racing ahead 4-0 behind a service ace by Skylar Yates. This ace would not only be the first Buccaneer point of the night, it would mark an unconquered milestone for one of Head Coach Carry Brown's four true seniors. Yates' ace was the 149th of college career – an amount no CSU player has ever achieved. Although the Blue Hose answered with a kill from Courtney Williams and a few points of their own, the Buccaneers pulled further ahead — opening up a 15-8 lead on a service error by PC's Helyse Hutchinson. The VolleyBucs were impressively efficient in the first frame as they hit a .303 hitting percentage compared to PC's .029.
Set two was the most competitive of them all. Presbyterian built a small lead (7-3) midway through the set thanks to steady play and Charleston Southern making a few unforced errors. However, CSU started tightening things up and flipped momentum after hitting 13-10 ahead. The Blue Hose clawed the score back to 20-20, but the Bucs executed in the closing points — two straight kills and a service ace sealed the set 25-20.
In the third–and eventually final–set, Presbyterian struck first with an early kill, but CSU quickly responded and took a 4-2 lead. From there the Buccaneers gradually extended the margin. They maintained consistent pressure and controlled the net, eventually winning the set 25-13 and taking the match 3-0.
