GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Buccaneers sent a group of runners to East Carolina University earlier this weekend to compete in the ECU Pirate Invitational. With a group that mostly consisted of underclassmen, Charleston Southern ended in fourth as a team.
Liam O'Donnell was the top finisher and had a personal best time of 25:29.25 in the race to claim 25
th overall.
Collin Kleinhen took 32
nd with a 25:40.15.
Hayden Christensen and
JD Gilman went back-to-back in 37
th and 38
th for 25:49.11 and 25:50.94.
Jones Barber rounded out the scoring five as he was 40
th with his time of 25:52.39. Wesley Haagstrom broke 26 minutes for the first time in his career for a personal best of 25:59.98.
Other Buccaneers to run in the race included
Kaden Kleinhen (26:10.68),
Ben Sherrill (26:27.47) and
Taylor Brown (27:06.13). There were additional CSU student-athletes that competed as unattached.
Charleston Southern will be back in action on the morning of Friday, October 17 for their final regular season meet of the fall. They will be competing in the University of Virginia's Panorama Farms Invite. Following this, they will be competing in the Big South Championships which will be hosted by Longwood this fall on Friday, October 31.
