CHARLESTON – Saturday evening, after sweeping USC Upstate the night before, Charleston Southern suited up for a match-up against a team they defeated earlier in October, UNC Asheville. CSU would defeat Asheville once again Saturday night in straight sets (25-18, 25-18, 25-16). The sweeps over both USC Upstate and UNC Asheville this weekend mark the first time CSU has swept opponents in the same weekend since February 2021.
The match was started with a Skylar Yates kill, who would lead the team in the category (9) for the 16th time so far this season. A 10-1 run by the Buccaneers later in the frame would grow the CSU lead to ten (16-6). Winning the frame 25-18, CSU's final two points would be scored by junior opposite hitter Faith Burch. Burch, after today's match, now ranks second on the squad in total kills this season (150).
Set number two would include 7-1, 4-0, and 5-1 runs all by the Bucs. That consistent dominance would give CSU their second set win of the night, 25-18.
A player who has had an impactful three-match stretch, Emmy Rollins, contributed 6 kills and a service ace in Saturday against Asheville. One of those six kills would be the final point of the contest as Rollins scored the 25th CSU-point of the third set as the Bucs claimed their 13th win of the regular season and 5th of the 2025 Big South conference slate.

CSU will take their final road trip of the 2025 regular season next week as they travel to play Gardner-Webb for an October 31st, Halloween dual at 6:00 PM. The Bucs will suit up the following Saturday, November 1st, for a 2:00 PM matinee match-up with the Winthrop Eagles in Rock Hill. Both contests are scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN+.
